SBTRKT is easily one of my favorite musicians, sitting comfortably in my top ten because of his debut album, his remixes, his look and his attitude towards music. Heck, everything about the man is brilliant. SBTRKT makes Post-Dubstep. And what is Post-Dubstep? Well, long before Skrilly came along and started pinch-bending LFOs and raping ears, the British were making dubstep. They kinda created the genre. And right about now they have moved so far away from it they started a new sub-genre. The sound bears influences from the old dubstep and a mixture of musical references. Artists in the genre include Mount Kimbie, Fantastic Mr Fox, James Blake and The Weeknd. Anyway, SBTRKT has been at just about every major festival playing live and garnering huge numbers of fans. My favorite track of his at the moment is ‘Trails of the Past’, so here’s a version where he’s playing it with the Heritage Orchestra…
