Track of the Day: Claire – Broken Promised Land

Track of the Day: Claire – Broken Promised Land

Claire is a fairly new Electro synth group hailing from Munich, Germany. I listened to them quite a lot last year when they released their debut album, The Great Escape, and actually managed to see them live a few weeks back. They sound as good live as they do in their recorded material, and they’ve got an amazing stage presence to top it off.

Track of the Day: Phantogram – Bill Murray

Track of the Day: Phantogram – Bill Murray

Phantogram is one of my favorite bands of the last few years but, because their releases in the two years since their debut have arrived as EPs, I’ve been left wanting more than I could get my hands on. So obviously the best thing about 2014 (well, for me so far) is that the Brooklyn, NY two-piece dropped their new album, Voices.

Track Of The Day: Broken Bells – After The Disco

Track Of The Day: Broken Bells – After The Disco

Probably one of the most unique collaborations to have come out of the last five years, Broken Bells are back from a four year hiatus with new album, After The Disco. This has always been one of the stranger combinations with regards to musicians coming together, but Danger Mouse, a producer that can make anything work, is involved.

Track of the Day: Work Drugs – Time

Track of the Day: Work Drugs – Time

If you had to ask me which bands best represent summer vibes to me, I’d probably have to say it’s Work Drugs. A perfect mix of infectious guitar riffs combined with some of the best vocals make for the perfect compliment to summer braais.

Track of the Day: Vuvuvultures – Deaf Epic (CREEP Remix) [Free Download]

The time has come! The VUVUVULTURES are poised to descend on our fine shores in just over a week to bring you all the sexy half-naked noise you can handle. Their tour centers around Ramfest but will be spilling over into a town near you over the course of (almost) a month.

Track of the Day: Hozier – From Eden

Track of the Day: Hozier – From Eden

Hozier is Ireland’s slightly older and bearded Matthew Mole. OK, that was bad, I’m clutching at straws over here, they don’t really have much in common. Hozier garnered quite a lot of hype with his debut EP Take Me To Church, doing all kinds of damage over in the UK on BBC.

Track of the Day: Phosphene – Mercury

Track of the Day: Phosphene – Mercury

What a week. Me and Mr Who haven’t stopped for a second. Today I have literally been in meetings until now, so excuse me for only getting to the track from one of our favorite Pretorians, Adrian Martens, now. Mercury is an instrumental track from young gun Phosphene and its rather juicy.

Track of the Day: The Knocks – The One Ft. Sneaky Sound System

Track of the Day: The Knocks – The One Ft. Sneaky Sound System

I was actually discussing The Knocks with my friend Thomas recently and he said he isn’t their biggest fan. That struck me as kind of odd seeing that they make amazing tracks like the one I’m about to feature here. Sure they blend a bit of Electro with Disco, but they seem to capture so much great, positive energy.

Track of the Day: Klaxons – There Is No Other Time

Track of the Day: Klaxons – There Is No Other Time

Whoa, time she is flying. Who knows where it’s all going? Apparently ex Nu-Rave band Klaxons (no longer The Klaxons) are on the same page. It’s been four years since the band’s last outing, Surfing the Void, and the guys toured that album to shit. I love that they move and grow with each new album, moving away from the faux genre of Nu-Rave into a more Post-Punk, Indie-Pop and Psychedelic vibe.

Track of the Day: Beck – Blue Moon

Track of the Day: Beck – Blue Moon

I receive a lot of nice things in the mail. Recently I got something I thought I’d never need – a new album from Beck. Guys, it’s been six years since this man released anything. Sea Change came out in 2008 and it was brilliant but extremely sombre. Blue Moon, the debut single off of Morning Phase, puts us in a new space entirely.
