So far there’s been some pretty cool marketing going on for Ridley Scott’s new sort-of-but-not-really Alien prequel, Prometheus. Besides the trailers, which are filled with quick cuts that don’t reveal any story details but show off some very epic-looking images, there’s also been that great TED talk set in the year 2023, starring Guy Pearce as the character he’ll be playing in the movie, Peter Weyland. This latest one, though, warms all the parts of my body that respond positively to Michael Fassbender. He’s playing the android David and this one’s a sort of commercial for The Weyland Corporation’s latest version of David; an ad we likely won’t see in the movie. The clip follows after the jump.
What’s interesting is that this obviously somehow hints at plot points the movie will pick up, like David’s ability to take actions his human crew mates might find “unethical”, or the question of what makes him sad. Considering who’s playing him and Ian Holm’s role in the original film, I’m certain whatever’s in here is gonna be very important to the final film. A movie I’m still incredibly amped to see.
