If you were a kid in the 90s, you probably recognize Lara Adine Lipschitz from your TV screens (say, SABC1, every weekday afternoon). If you’re a kid of the todays though, you’ve seen her in commercials for Dstv or on stage in Jersey Boys. Basically, she’s done a lot. But the life of an actress can be tough and now Lara’s set out to show us just how difficult it can be when you hit rock bottom with the web series she’s starring in, writing and directing: Chin Up!

Last night The Daily Maverick posted a press statement from Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille explaining that the DA’s big announcement from earlier in the week – that Agang leader Dr Mamphela Ramphele was to be the DA’s new Presidential candidate – was no longer going down as planned. YOH! is the brainchild of Patrick Visser and Raees Saiet. The brand started out as a monthly themed party in Cape Town that featured film screenings and music from bands and DJs afterwards. Since then YOH! has branched out into blogging, online radio, Joburg parties and now, their own clothing label.

You may have noticed that I didn’t write a review for Man Of Steel this year, but that I make repeated references to it whenever I write about movies from 2013. I found it incredibly easy to describe why that movie upset me so much, but I’m not sure what I think is necessarily in sync with the times, so I took a backseat to let it simmer for a few months.
