In & Out: Jungle, The Presets, Spoon and More

Alright, I’m suffering from reality blues after an amazing holiday and from what I’m hearing, it’s a horrible winter back home. So let’s cheer ourselves up with some music. Jungle drop another amazing video for their album. With, of course, new music from Spoon, The Presets, and new comer Attaque.

Jungle – Time

We’ve been big promoters of the UK duo Jungle since they started up last year. Since then, they have grown in leaps and bounds. They have literally grabbed the entire world’s attention with their undeniably catchy, soulful numbers. It was only a matter of time before they released their self titled debut album, but it actually happened a lot sooner than anyone anticipated. The album drops on the 14th of July and you can grab it here. I highly recommend it, fuck that, just go and buy it. This is the start of something beautiful.

Spoon - Do You

Most of us know Spoon for their delightfully dark and charming little numbers. But you know they do a few little pop numbers as well and, of course, they are completely delicious. The boys’ latest single, Do You, is off of their 8th studio album (yes 8th), They Want My Soul, that I might add is just pure poppy goodness. I love the track. It’s smart and catchy, questioning if you are really doing what you want to be doing with yourself. It’s a great track and I cannot wait for the album to drop later in August.

The Presets - No Fun

Gah, so late to the show with this one but fuck it. Man I remember when there were talks of bringing this Aussie power house duo to SA. It’s fallen flat every time, mainly due to the fact that they don’t really have a big presence back home. I don’t understand why. They have such a unique style of dark pop dance that just makes you lose control of your feet. I only ever hear their tracks in Red Room (my happy place). Anyway, here is their latest single, No Fun, which seems completely contradictory to the high energy of this track, which is probably the point. The track is a 90′s joy explosion with modern dance troupes thrown in for good measure. If you don’t like this track then I dunno, maybe you just don’t have a soul.

Attaque – Only You

Attaque aka Dominic Gentry is a rather strange oddity hailing from the techno world, where I might add he was rather successful. He recently decided to drop it all and focus his attention on creating Electronica, and let’s just say it wasn’t a bad move. His latest single Only You is eerily dreamy and soulful. I can’t stop hearing the shimmering beats playing in the back of my head. Attaque is about to release a full length album titled ON LY OU. It’s coming out in October and I think we should all keep an eye on this fellow.
