Trailer For 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Reinvents The Spy

There are times I feel like the only dude outside of the USA who enjoyed the first Captain America movie. Some folks found it too drawn out and not superhero-y enough. With its sequel, The Winter Soldier, there definitely seems to be more costumed action, but it’s still not be a full-on superhero movie. In fact, it looks like super-espionage. Perfect.

I’m a bit worried about the directors behind this one, but the DOP’s supposed to be pro and the shots we can see in this trailer at least look pretty great. And then there’s the cast, which includes Chris Evans, who nailed the role for me in the last one, Scarlet Johansonn, Samuel L Jackson (in more serious mode, I guess) and Robert effing Redford.

The first Cap movie rocked, to me, because it felt like an Indiana Jones style pulp adventure. This second one looks like it’s channeling The Bourne Identity and the modern James Bond films somewhat, so let’s hope that’s what the final product will provide: a superhero movie that is more than just another superhero fight sequence.
