In & Out: Voyageur, La Roux, Ben Khan and More

In & Out Today: I am officially an accidental ex-pat in London now, so let’s kick off Monday with some new music of the British kind, including Voyageur, La Roux, Ben Khan and Allman Brown.

Voyageur – Tear Out My Heart

Fresh and new, Voyageur is a London-based singer-songwriter. Not much more I can tell you about him but he has just dropped two debut tracks on SoundCloud. These tracks pretty much just smack you straight in the face with strong and emotional lyrics balanced by his soulful melodic piano. Tear Out My Heart is by far my favorite of the two. It lures you into a false sense of security right up until he kicks the track into overdrive. It’s the kind of song that makes you go “wow”. It’s a rather strong debut and I hope for lots more out of this guy, have a listen below and follow his SoundCloud over here.

La Roux – Let Me Down Gently

I kinda always wondered what happened to La Roux. She was everywhere at one point. We all loved her honestly brutal pop music, I won’t even pretend I didn’t enjoy a lot of her music, and I do mean a lot. It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard anything, but now she is back with one lovely little ballad to steal her way into your heart again. You aren’t really ready for all the fun that drops at the 2:30 mark. Welcome back, La Roux, this is what we were waiting for.

Ben Khan – Youth

Last week a special lady dropped this treat on my wall and I cannot stop listening to it over and over again. Sounding a lot like the rather absent Jai Paul, Ben Khan drops that beautiful experimental pop in all the best ways. His biggest track by far is Youth, which he just recently released a new music for. Have a watch below and if you like it you should head over to his SoundCloud and dance the afternoon away.

Allman Brown – Ancient Light

Allman made it big last year with his single Sons and Daughters which featured Liz Lawrence. Liz is actually currently touring with Bombay Bicycle Club, but who cares because Allman has a new single. The title track off of his latest EP, due for release in mid-June. Ancient Light highlights Allman’s great vocals and composing skills. I really love the production on the track, especially the song’s climax. This is a great introduction to the artist, have a listen and see what I’m jabbering on about. He’s rather good.
