Throwback Thursdays: The Wannadies – ‘You and Me Song’

Throwback-Thursdays-Osiris-23-May

Remember a time when it was ok to wear skate shoes bigger than your head, Nokia’s Snake 2 was the pioneer of mobile innovation, Apple sucked, and those hot women you’re seeing out in bars now were still in primary school? Throwback Thursdays will take you on a weekly trip down memory lane, touching base with some of the memorable tracks that have stuck with us over the years.

Romeo

Seeing good old Leo in the Great Gatsby, watching him become a really mature and established actor gave me a nostalgic feeling for when I first saw him as a babyfaced newbie in Romeo and Juliet. I’ll be frank, I hated Shakespeare during my high school years and so did most of my class. I often spent my English classes with my book propped up while I slept on my blazer. When we were covering the Romeo and Juliet set work, the teacher tried to make it more interesting by letting us watch the modern adaptation.  Leo’s acting back then was pretty impressive but even with a modern spin I still found Shakespeare to be an absolute ball ache. What I did love about this film though was the soundtrack. There were some outstanding artists included including Garbage, Radiohead, the Cardigans and the Wannadies.

Unfortunately the Wannadies have broken up, but I still think their track on the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack is one of my favourites: Here’s You and Me Song.
