Every year, thousands of people from around South Africa take a great trek on the road to Northam in the Limpopo province for Oppikoppi, the country’s longest running music festival. This year, Another-Day decided to pitch our tents in the only shady spot in the entire festival, the media area, and proceeded to interview whoever the fuck would say Yes.

Let me give you several reasons why I love this upcoming August. It’s my mom’s and my dad’s birthdays, friends and relatives are visiting from overseas, but above all, it’s Oppikoppi and Grietfest 2013. Sorry guys, I love y’all, but the dance floors are calling my name. Just a few years ago, wanting to set foot in Jo’burg meant convincing your friends from the upper middle class suburbs that you’d drive and that you’d leave before midnight. Sorry, my friends were pussies. It hasn’t taken all that long for the city to become not just some trendy new place to hang out, but the source of all the best parties around.

When we took a look at a preview of his upcoming Free Trade EP yesterday, we mentioned that Cape Town’s Das Kapital is launching his own label, Do Work records, this year. What we couldn’t give you just yet were any solid details on the label, but that’s ok, the man himself has taken care of that for us.
Do Work is Das Kapital‘s new label and just as the name suggests, the man has been doing nothing but creating innovative dance music from various influences to form his new EP, Free Trades. I honestly don’t think he even sleeps. Seriously, I still see social network activity from the guy at 4 AM.
