So as it turns out, not everything about Cape Town is awful. Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues are a Cape Town comedy duo who’ve done a lot of cool shit on their YouTube channel, including a Rebecca Black parody called “Braaiday“. With Justin Bieber in town, the Blues took to the stadium grounds to find out just how much his fans love their hero.
It’s happened. Beach Party - one of Another-Day‘s favourite bands – have released their 7 track EP, For Now We Are Young. They’ve also made it available to download via Mediafire, which means it’s free! The album itself has a well mastered sound that will leave you reminiscing about summer and is a sure sign of the band’s hard work and progression, all the while not losing any of their cheeky charm and attitude.
So as you may’ve heard, a local Comic Con was announced a few days ago. Seeing as how the Comic Con International held annually in San Diego, California is an enormous deal, basically functioning as geek Mecca (or, you know, Makkah), you know this got all of us pretty freakin’ excited.

Remember Decio? The Cape-based longboarder who annihilated Kloof Nek? Well the folks at Audio Visual Alchemy sat down with him and the buddy who filmed the entire thing to discuss the experience, the recent suggestion of their troubles with the law, and a little bit behind their personal philosophies. It’s perhaps overly sentimental in its execution, but it’s a great short interview with these two guys who seem to share a really cool philosophy.

If you’ve been to Cape Town then you’ve more than likely been on Kloof Nek road on your way up to Table Mountain or Signal Hill. It’s a steep, super windy snake-like course, so it’s no surprise that there’s a speeding camera on it, with a speed limit of 60km/h. Enter Decio, a longboarder who managed to get flashed by the speed trap on his way down, and recorded the feat while he was at it.

When we took a look at a preview of his upcoming Free Trade EP yesterday, we mentioned that Cape Town’s Das Kapital is launching his own label, Do Work records, this year. What we couldn’t give you just yet were any solid details on the label, but that’s ok, the man himself has taken care of that for us.

Take a look at that shot above this again. You wouldn’t believe it, but that’s Cape Town. It’s something I left out of my review of Dredd, mostly because it didn’t have any bearing on the movie’s plot. Still, it was pretty awesome to see Judge Dredd in a car chase through the streets of Newtown.
