Speedos, budgie smugglers, ding-a-ling slings. Whatever you call them, these tiny items of swimming apparel made it to the first Speedo-Fest in full force this past weekend. Held at Rumours Lounge to raise funds for the Florida Water Polo Club, the event also coincided with Viking Ragnarok, meaning the world ended there and we’re all just living in illusion now instead.

Bringing together bands from across the Joburg music scene, the theme of this event seemed to be camaraderie. Either that or dick. Lots of balls and dick. With performances from acts ranging the gamut from Fridge Poetry to OneDaySky, Made For Broadway to Red Huxley, Satanic Dagga Orgy to Matt Haddon (in his debut solo gig), this thing kicked ass and covered a ton of musical ground all in a single day.

Here’s hoping the Florida Water Polo Club needs money every year cos I’ll definitely go back for another one.
