Watch ‘Star Wars’ Recut As A Comedy To The Tune Of ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

I’m a big fan of well executed mash-ups. Especially when they emphasize aspects of a familiar movie that go overlooked because of its genre. The original Star Wars trilogy was space opera with dashes of high fantasy in it, so while there are some amazing comedic beats and lines in those movies, you tend to forget them. This new recut trailer for the trilogy, however, is cut to the tune of Guardians of the Galaxy which gives its editor, The Unusual Suspect, carte blanche to emphasize lines like, “Laugh it up, fuzzball” or that great bit where Han distracts a Storm Trooper by just cold walking by him in the middle of the day.

There’s actually so much comedic gold in Star Wars and its sequels that I’m surprised someone hadn’t got to this sooner, although I guess the general Fifth Element-meets-Empire Strikes Back aesthetic of the upcoming Guardians film was a solid enough Pavlovian trigger to make us remember that, yes, Darth Vader does tell Boba Fett there will be “no disintegration” when he charges him with hunting down the rebels.
