What’s so great about OK GO’s music videos is the lack of reliance on CGI for special effects. It’s amazing what you can accomplish using only perspective and the right colour coordination. The band’s analogue approach shows their tenacity to create visual representations of themselves that are brilliant and well thought out, to the point where they’ve pretty much defined their own genre of music videos. Of course, the band couldn’t have achieved this solely by themselves. Special Guest are the conceptualisers to The Writing’s On The Wall, and I can’t imagine how much patience it takes to get everything just right. Imagine the work it takes behind the scenes – helping the band get into position and then getting out of view from the camera like mythical creatures. Daaaaamn!
