When it comes to animation lately, Disney has been absolutely destroying, right? I haven’t seen Frozen yet but I’ve heard great things. It seems the House of Mouse has finally started reaching for the creative heights that its subsidiary Pixar achieved ages ago. Big Hero 6 is the company’s upcoming release. Borrowing a basic concept from a little known Marvel comic created by Steven T. Seagle and artist Duncan Rouleau (two of the creators of Cartoon Network’s ever-popular Ben 10 franchise), the movie looks like a ton of fun, something both Marvel and Disney are good at providing.
The original Big Hero 6 concept involves a team of six super-people based out of Japan but the new movie takes things to another level, distancing the story from its Marvel Comics roots and focusing on lead character Hiro Takachiho, a young inventor who lives in San Fransokyo and builds his robot Baymax as a superhero partner. The two then team up with other absurd adventurers and superheroes to protect their home from evil in whatever form it takes.
The Big Hero 6 teaser below gives a quick indication of the movie’s humorous side and, as someone who thinks a lot about what his kid nephews might enjoy watching at the movies, I think this is gonna be a ton of fun for younger audiences (and anybody who still has a fucking soul, I guess).
