The sensual guitar goddess that is Annie Clark, aka St Vincent, has been dropping hints and singles leading up to her new self-titled album, due out on the 24th of Feb. Her latest single, Prince Johnny, is a wry lyrical tale of self-destruction with a sprinkle of #nojudgement that is beautiful, framed by Clark’s wit, velvety warbling vocal-driven chorus and a drum machine.

The time has come! The VUVUVULTURES are poised to descend on our fine shores in just over a week to bring you all the sexy half-naked noise you can handle. Their tour centers around Ramfest but will be spilling over into a town near you over the course of (almost) a month.
I personally don’t like the term “faghag.” It makes out that one needs some sort of special skill or requirement to be my friend (must be ~*FaBuLOus*~, must take me shoe shopping!), but to say that, over the years, I’ve acquired a few friends who are homosexually inclined is a bit of an understatement.
Despite the sheer number of creative people out there, the number of lessons being passed down from one creative to the next can be few and far between. Sure, there’s school and traditional education but really, what the modern creative needs is a combination of the X Men Academy, Juilliard and the movie Fame (but without the mutants, ballerinas, dancing in the streets and unwanted pregnancies).
Calling 30 young South Africans the “future of South Africa music” is a bold statement, but it’s also the sort of ballsy statement you’d expect to come from the brand that got a dude to jump through the stratosphere. Right now, those 30 kids are sitting in The Alex Theatre for the Red Bull Music Academy, and there’s an opportunity for you to join them.
I had written a post about how ridiculous SA Fashion Week was (which it was).
